They give a one year warranty on parts and labor, so the warranty expired 8 months ago. Broken mainspring will require a full service. The entire 3/4 bridge has to be taken off to get the barrel out. You can't just pop a new mainspring in a barrel and put it back on without disturbing the lubrication.
Removing a mainspring can be quick and easy if you have the right tools. By creating this simple tool from materials you already have you can safely remove the mainspring from your Rolex mainspring barrel. It is not recommended that you attempt to do any watch repairs on your own. If you're sure that the mainspring has failed and that's all, I'd recommend replacing the "barrel complete" if you're a beginner. Servicing mainspring barrels is mid-level / skill level and you SHOULD use a spring winder if you're not replacing the whole barrel assy.
