The Hesalite crystal has a friction fit to the case but the sapphire crystal requires a gasket. It's not really a preference, but a necessity for me.but the tools you need really depend on the job at hand. This morning I pulled the movement out and replaced the Hesalite crystal on one of my Speedmaster Professionals; it wasn't that scratched up, but I'm pretty pedantic. There aren't many DIY tutorials around (that I could find) so I did this based on what I know of the cases/movement etc.
