Eau de Vetyver by Givenchy is a Woody fragrance for men. Eau de Vetyver was launched in 1959. Top note is Bergamot; middle notes are Coriander and Vetiver; base notes are Sandalwood and Cedar.Hiram Green Vetiver - thick, with a bit of honey and myrrh notes, this interpretation fluctuates between presenting vetiver as lemony and grassy, and more earthy and damp. For being so thick and rich, it's surprisingly fresh. Smells great, but a bit too pricey, IMO.
The reissued Vetyver from Givenchy features a very spare, nutty vetiver accord that sweetens gently through something vaguely suggestive of licorice to a very suave woody-mossy base.
Vétyver is a member of Les Mythiques — a group of classic Givenchy fragrances that have been re-launched in newly designed packaging. Vétyver contains bergamot, coriander leaves, sandalwood, and three varieties of vetiver — the “outfit” is simple, but deluxe.
I can find nothing about these new bottles on the Givenchy website. When I look on perfume vendors, listings come up (Italy only) that also remark on reissues of Eau De and Hot Couture in this same series. (No mention of L’Interdit (the original formulation) or Vetyver, two other Givenchy classics I love). Any inside scoop on this?
